Directions to La Chataigne

  • Take the N1 towards Paarl. After about 50km take Exit 47 (the Stellenbosch / Wellington / Klapmuts turnoff)
  • At the STOP sign at the bottom of the off ramp (about 200m) turn RIGHT onto the R44, going under the N1
  • Continue about another 1km until you get to a set of traffic lights
  • Cross straight ahead and continue another +/- 500 meters and until you get to a second set of traffic lights. Turn LEFT towards Franschhoek
  • Continue along this road for about 10km until you get to a T-junction at Simondium
  • Turn RIGHT towards Franschhoek. This road is the R45 and takes you to Franschhoek
  • After about 15km you will pass Bridge House School to your right and a little further on you go over the Berg River Bridge
  • Continue another 1-2km, passing the Wellington / Berg River Dam crossing along the way. After that crossing, La Chataigne is the second farm to the RIGHT. You will see two white pillars and a security gate
  • Do please be aware that this straight stretch of road is where cars usually try to pass one another. If you have cars behind you, do pull to the left and let them pass by before crossing over to our gate
  • From the airport, take the on-ramp onto the N2 East (Somerset West).
  • Take the next major off-ramp off the N2 – the R300. You will turn left and go towards Bellville. Stay on this road all the way until you join the N1 towards Paarl.

  • Travel to the traffic circle at the top end of Merriman Avenue
  • Exit to your LEFT (Cluver Street) and at second traffic light turn  RIGHT onto the R310 (the Helshoogte Pass)
  • Continue over the Helshoogte pass and through the settlements of Johannesdal and Pniel
  • Continue past Boschendal on your right until you reach the T-junction with the entrance to the farm Alleu Bleu in front of you.
  • At the T-junction turn RIGHT. This road is the R45 and takes you straight through to Franschhoek
  • After about 15km you will pass Bridge House School to your right and a little further on you go over the Berg River Bridge

  • Exit Paarl on the R303 in the direction of Franschhoek
  • Continue on this road past Pearl Valley Golf Estate and the  Drakenstein Correctional Services (from where Nelson Mandela was released) until you get to the intersection of the R45 and the road to the new Berg River Dam
  • Turn left towards Franschhoek on the R45. La Chataigne will be the second farm to your right with a security gate and big white pillars.
